Katherine Whitby
From her home studio in Harrogate, Katherine creates art inspired by the local Yorkshire landscape. Using rich water mixable oil paints Katherine likes to depict subjects which resonate and make a connection between herself as the artist and with the viewer; helping to immortalise their exceptional and everyday memories on canvas and thereby create a sense of belonging.
Katherine graduated in 2003 with a degree in History of Art from York University and it was whilst studying a Fine Art module that her childhood passion for painting was reignited. Following a career in interior design and, after having a family, Katherine decided to pursue her artistic vocation with intent and practise art full time.
Katherine says “I hope to communicate feelings of light and positivity through my paintings, often with a big sky playing the leading role. This is when I am at my happiest; pushing buttery oil paints around on the smooth canvas. Finding courage, peace and joy in equal measure!”
